W.K. LYHNE: INSTABILITY AS METHOD, A TALK
Patrica Low Contemporary 2024 Poster for "The Surrogate" Venice 2024
WEDNESDAY 22 JULY, 9:30 - 9:55
Lecture Room 2
This presentation focuses on process as much as outcome. It sets out the structures and strategies that shape the work, including the use of historical material, fragmentary image construction and the integration of animal and human bodies within a single pictorial field. It asks how these methods operate in practice and what they make visible or unstable.
The project is driven by a specific question: how reproductive life can be materially central yet structurally excluded from recognition and authority. The work tests this through painting and sound, where coherence is not assumed and stability is not guaranteed.
Presented within the context of the Assembly, it invites discussion on method, limits and shared approaches across disciplines, using the work as a point of exchange rather than a resolved position.
