In this presentation, I discuss how my practice-based PhD research explores my artistic practice as a medium to reveal and resist the ways capitalism captures desire and shapes subjectivity to operate in its favor. I will present Filler Machine, a renovated and repurposed gas pump developed through a collaboration between myself as an artist-researcher and a team of engineering students at the Federal University of Goias (UFG), in Brazil. The collaborative process became part of a broader reflection on psychoanalytic conceptions of desire and their relation to labor, time, and capital.
