Because the Woolf University Library is actually an index of open-access research databases, it does not require a student login, password, or enrollment.

How to Use the Digital Library

You can use it to search through millions of global academic papers, public books, and datasets using embedded public networks like:

  • CORE and BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine) for global research papers.

  • arXiv.org for physics, mathematics, and computer science preprints.

  • Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) and OAPEN for full-length academic books.

  • Internet Archive and Google Scholar for general literature searches.

Restricted Third-Party Content

  • Commercial Databases: Platforms like JSTOR are included on Woolf's resource list. If you click on them, you will see a paywall. While current Woolf students use their own individual external credentials or university partnerships to bypass these, a non-student will be blocked unless they pay for an account or log in through a different participating institution. Initiate a Google search for the title of the paper or book you need to find an alternative legal, open-access repository where the full text is hosted for free.

  • Private Research Sites: Links leading to networks like ResearchGate or Academia.edu frequently restrict full-text downloads. Non-students can usually see the abstract of a paper, but may be prompted to log in, create a professional profile, or request the full file directly from the author.
