This talk will examine some of the key challenges that Useful Art poses to our traditional notions of Art. In doing so, Byrne will use key examples form practice, as well as projects that he has been involved in, as a teams to argue for social uses of art as forms of ground-up activism. In doing so, Byrne will also argue that Useful Art provides a social toolkit by which we can challenge the social, political and economic status-quo of neoliberal occupation.
