Jisun Myung: Theatre for Young Audiences ‘Artistic Innovation Award’, USA
On May 29, 2026, Jisun Myung received the TYA 2026 National Award - Artistic Innovation Award from TYA/USA for the performance she created with the friends and co-artists titled Red. TYA/USA (USA ASSITEJ), founded in 1965, is the leading national service organization dedicated to professional theatre/performance for children and families.
Red an immersive dance performance for 12 to 36 month-olds and their families, explores the bold experience of toddlerhood through joyful chaos and rough-and-tumble play. Developed through creative research sessions with very young children, this performance looks to toddlers as experts and invites them to co-create the performance world as it unfolds. Red is a collaborative effort between creators Amanda Pintore, Olivia Herneddo, and Jisun Myung.
Through the play lab improvisation with children's presence, Jisun composed all sound material and played live for the performances. Red was premised at Mesa Arts Center and Phoenix Children's Museum and will be coming back this year again late October with Mesa Arts Center.
